Reimbursed vaccines can provide savings to society » At the moment, the vaccines outside the national vaccination programme are not eligible for the Finnish health insurance reimbursement system (the so-called KELA reimbursement) but must be paid the vaccine-takers themselves. PIF’s analysis focusing on the shingles (Herpes Zoster) vaccines shows that the society could draw economic benefits if this vaccine were to be reimbursed. Indeed, we would urgently need an extensive and neutral study on the economic impacts of potentially reimbursable vaccines. The funding and development of the national vaccination programme should also be ensured. |
